This meaningful ceremony, underwritten in part by The Walt Disney Company, celebrated not only the bravery of LAFD’s firefighters but also the powerful impact of gratitude. The event was inspired by Eniola Taiwo, a 14-year old student from Orange, Connecticut, whose heartfelt letter to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce paid tribute to LAFD’s heroism, requesting they be honored with a "star".
Thanks to the generous support of Delta Air Lines and the W Hollywood Hotel, the student and her family were able to travel to Los Angeles and participate in the ceremony in person—bringing a deeply human and moving dimension to the day.
The program culminated in the unveiling of the Award of Excellence Star in front of Ovation, adjacent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, followed by a reception with members of LAFD at La Popular Mexican Restaurant. It was a moment of reflection, appreciation, and community pride.
We are honored to stand with those who run toward danger to protect our city—and grateful to all who helped make this tribute possible.
*NOTE: The Award of Excellence is a distinct honor presented by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Hollywood Community Foundation. While it takes the form of a star and is celebrated alongside the Walk of Fame, it is separate and distinct from the official Walk of Fame program.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE FOLLOWING PARTNERS WHOSE GENEROSITY HELPED CREATE A MEMORABLE HOLLYWOOD EXPERIENCE FOR THE STUDENT AND HER FAMILY VISITING FROM CONNECTICUT.
